UP southbound's at Blunt, California
Author: locogimp

Here are two more images that I took on Saturday, the 14th, where I spent the afternoon in and around the Blunt siding area where everything is bright green for the time being. Since this is a free range area a small herd of cattle roamed through the area grazing on the rather meager foliage.

The first train is a southbound unit steel train that is slowly approaching the north end of the siding where it will get stabbed for a couple of northbounds.

The second train was a drag that came through a few hours later which was also put in the siding for a couple of meets.

great photos, have never seen a meet at Blunt. I assumed the siding is usually stuffed with wellcars and too short for most trains. i have to get up to that neck of the woods, the grass aint gettin' greener!

I can't believe that there is a town in California named Blunt! Is it near Weed?

Blunt is just the name of a siding. It's about 100-miles south of Dunsmuir, it is a couple miles north of Red Bluff, CA.

Nice shots of one of my favorite areas! While it is a train full of steel, we call them "rail trains" :)

Blunt siding is around 120 rail miles south of Weed. Now if only they were an additional 300 miles farther apart.....

I think you lost me there. Not hard to do. I was just pointing out that the train in the picture is a rail train. WPDPUR.
