AC6000CW visits RCP&E

A CSX AC6000CW #5015 and AC4400CW #597 came in on an empty bomb train. This is the second time that I have had a CSX AC6000CW leading on a RCP&E train. Attached are some photos.

Thanks for the detail images.  This unit is now a CSXT CW46AC with a 16-GEVO diesel.  CSXT now has no AC6000CW units.  Gerry

Thanks for showing the photos.  It is always nice and informative to see different models from a viewpoint we don't normally get to experience.

Unless its been derated it should be 6000 HP. GE propaganda, "Powered by GE Transportation’s 12-cylinder diesel engine, the Evolution Series Engine produces the same 4,400 HP as its 16-cylinder predecessor. The Evolution Series Engine also is offered in a 16-cylinder configuration that delivers 6,000 HP."

Don't think they've built any 6000 hp GEVO's.

In Brazil there are some though they are 5800 HP. The CSX units had the HDL V16's replaced with EVO V16's to allow them to remain at 6000 HP and to have common parts the EVO V12's.. UP took a different route and swapped the HDL V16 with the proven FDL V16 used in AC44 and C44 units.

The CSX units have indeed been derated to 4400hp for fuel conservation reasons and reduced maintainence costs. The units were reclassed as CW46AC and CW46AH; units with the AH designation recieved the high tractive effort package upgrades. The only exceptions are CSX #600-602 which recieved 4400hp FDL prime movers during the repowering program several years ago and are classed as CW44AC.
