Not your every day train chase!
Author: funnelfan

I had asked for yesterday off, but had no idea that would be the day the ex-Reading 2100 would be on the move out of Pasco. But I doubt I will ever convince my co-workers that this was just coincidence. So after a few errands around town, I ventured down to Keystone and chased it back to Spokane. Here are some of the better photos from the day. For this train, I went to the extra effort to secure permission from a property owner to shoot the train passing Queen Lucas Lake from his awesome overlook.

The RDG 2100 was on the H-PASNTW, but that train went into Yardley to be reworked. But the tenders followed on the H-PASKCK which went right on by Yardley. One of the few times the tender got ahead of their steam locomotive, but the other instances didn't turn out so well.

Excellent photos, Ted. I'm glad you managed to get the day off and had the time to capture this event. That first photo has my vote for IOTD, great series.

Thanks for sharing,

So will the tenders and engine be united somewhere en route?

Wow! Any idea why the engine and tenders are going as separate movements?

The PASNTW goes via the GN Hi Line through Whitefish.

The PASKCK goes via the MRL through Missoula.

It is BNSF's call.

BNSF logistics at its best, don't forget it's the most efficient way to move freight.

Pic 1 is my fav. Good job.

From comments a day or so ago, the engine is moving as a High Wide load .

Odd as if you read the other threads on steam railroading you will find what is going on with it.
