CSX 5002 Leading Empty Phosphate(?) Train
Author: Agent

I caught an eastbound unit freight train on the BNSF Ottumwa Subdivision at Agency, Iowa this afternoon.  The train was all covered hoppers, many of them from old roads.  From past experience, I think this is an empty phosphate train.

1) Lead unit CSXT 5002 was an AC600CW, but I heard it was derated.  That means its now an AC4460CW?

2) CSXT 3024 ES44AH.

3-4) Many of the old hoppers were for the Family Lines System.

5) Even Chessie (kind of) made an appearance.

Good looking unit train and nice catch on the BNSF line.

CSX #5002 has indeed been derated to 4400hp and is classed as CW46AH by the railroad. It was derated via software changes, it still is powered by the GEVO16 prime mover and could easily be uprated back to 6000hp should the railroad choose to do so.

You, Brad G and I should all meet up and go trackside sometime. I got this one too near Middletown
