Western Railroad Discussion > Needles Sub - Two Westbounds Neck to Neck at KlondikeDate: 05/29/15 17:19 Needles Sub - Two Westbounds Neck to Neck at Klondike Author: syscom3 To my knowledge, no one has provided a video of this happening or from this angle. Its definitly a morning shot due to the sun angles. And although this happens more frequently than we suspect, its rare to have anyone out here when it happens.
Klondike is just around the corner to the left. And it's also where the BNSF mains diverge/converge on Ash Hill. For those that were following my earlier thread about my exploration of the old ATSF grade here, these were the two trains that surprised me. I was in the proverbial right place at the right time. I've enjoyed your series on the original line around Klondike. In the video, the first train looks like the ZMEMLAC. I can't tell for sure on the second one. Did it have DPU on the rear? I took a picture of three trains in the same picture and I am pretty sure there wasnt anything in the back.

Really cool video syscom3!!! -Tom Date: 05/29/15 21:53 Re: Needles Sub - Two Westbounds Neck to Neck at Klondike Author: syscom3 Tom, you ever have the opportunity on going up the "wrong way"?
How often does this happen? I think its more frequent than we suspect. Date: 05/30/15 18:26 Re: Needles Sub - Two Westbounds Neck to Neck at Klondike Author: zchcsse syscom3 Wrote:

Dispatchers like to do that to get hotshots around slower trains on the fly. Date: 05/30/15 22:45 Re: Needles Sub - Two Westbounds Neck to Neck at Klondike Author: mapboy zchcsse Wrote:
