RARE Two BNSF GP40X's in Omaha area Sunday noon
Author: brc600

The 3030 was at Omaha, NE Gibson Yard with two other motors. The 3035 is the Council Bluffs, Iowa (across the river from Omaha) switcher with two KCS motors  4102 EMD Belle and gray GE 4620. Light was, of course, not good at all for pics!

I'm not sure, I've seen four of the ten within the last three months.

All ten of the original Santa Fe GP40X units are still in service for BNSF.

That really is an amazing feat to keep those oddballs around, but in reality they are just like the GP50s, which BNSF still has a good number around. UP got rid of their GP40Xs over 10 years ago.

The 10 UP/SP GP40X's were built with HT-B trucks - how many are still riding on those trucks? I know some were converted to GP swing hanger trucks but were all?
