Warren Buffett goes green
Author: Copy19

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Energy has joined a dozen major U.S. businesses at the White House to announce more than $140 billion in low-carbon investments, according to a front page story in today's Omaha World-Herald.  The newspaper also reported Berkshire's headquarters in Omaha declined to comment on the contrast between Monday's announcement and some of its other businesses, including BNSF Railway.

Berkshire said "because of the way railroads are regulated, Berkshire is obligated to carry the coal and oil."

Among Berkshire's pledges is to retire more than 75 percent of coal generation capacity in Nevada in the next four years.

Reducing Nevada coal fired power would not be good news for UP.

Especially since the reduction in coal use quoted for Nevada was 75%, big hit.

Just wondering what happened to the rest of this interesting thread?  Have we, the membership, been misbehaving again?  AA

It got interesting for sure, the wheels definitely lost contact with the rails. A spirited bunch it was.

Nevada is betting heavily on a solar future.  Look at the deal Tesla received for the giga-factory.

Buffett on the other hand, invests in politicians as much as he invests in railroads, candy companies, energy companies, Goldman Sachs, etc
