Still more CN through Dunsmuir tonight
Author: photobob

Seems like all I've been shooting lately is CN powered grain trains. Here's this evenings northbound empty train.

Another one southward through Chiloquin, Or at 6:05pm.  2x5x2 with CN's on each end and 5 UP's in the middle. Did not hear them setting out the mid-train DPU's at Klamth Falls.

I'm getting used to the bright red noses again.
You nailed all the shots Bob. Even when you had less than a minute to setup. How did you get from the north switch at Dunsmuir to Shasta Retreat in time? Isn't that less than 2 rail miles?

It would be nice if the YELLOW reflective frame stripe could be white.  Doesn't the FRA allow white or yellow to be used??

Even Photobob got the "door treatment"! Although given the heat/humidity yesterday, the crew probably needed it.

As fo the door treatment, lot of the CN units are not air conditioned. That was 10 years ago. Don't know if their newer unts have A/C.
Remember them coming into Mobile, Al after the IC/CN merger and the crews roasting/ basted during the summer in the heat and humidty. Door open helped some.
If they made it to CSX, we switched them back to get a working A/C in the lead.

Really cool seeing CN power through the Dunsmuir area. Great shots.

Hey Bob, in photo 6, are those pre-positioned firefighting water cars?  Any rosters of them?

Thanks...

Now Ryan, ya gotta know that the old geezer has a new model scooter now and he's mounted a 5 chime on the handlebars. That along with those drag slicks on the rear wheels allow him to race around town at a fast pace of 3 mph. I'm still amazed that he seems to be able sneak outtta the home after hours and not get caught while out taking these fine photos.

He's not as much a sneaky guy, he'll just come right out and tell you what he's going to do! Probably just waves to the nurses and get THE WAVE back.

Where do these grain trains originate/terminate at? I would be willing to gamble they come out of British Columbia.
