Western Railroad Discussion > On the ground in TacomaDate: 08/28/15 11:43 On the ground in Tacoma Author: radar From KIRO FM and Tacoma Fire Department twitter, two locomotives are on the ground in Tacoma. Fuel is leaking, and Fire Department is on the scene. To me, it looks like a sideswipe. KIRO reported it as being Tacoma Rail, but the address given is 1301 E 21st, so that's the BNSF yard. Not sure if that means a TR crew was involved, or not. One injury reported.

Judging from the strobes on the UP 598 it was a RCL operation and the UP crew most likely ran into the side of the BNSF unit.

Don't think the Orange Ones hit the dirt.

Date: 08/28/15 13:47 Re: On the ground in Tacoma Author: funnelfan The two locals collided on the diamond where the BNSF connection to Tacoma Rail crosses the lead out of the UP yard. Reportedly the UP was a remote job while the BNSF was a conventional switch job.

With the area wide open looks like someone wasn't paying attention to something.

Isn't that how the Santa Fe and SP tried to do it? Didn't work then either.-BMT Date: 08/29/15 06:26 Re: On the ground in Tacoma Author: ERAD EMDSW-1 Wrote:

The trail BNSF engine was a RCL. Date: 08/29/15 08:58 Re: On the ground in Tacoma Author: BruceStikkers With traffic down it looks they are fighting for every load they can get. This is ripe for a lot of great captions.
