Western Railroad Discussion > Q-CHCSSE detour though Wyoming....Date: 10/07/15 15:02 Q-CHCSSE detour though Wyoming.... Author: mtnwestrail With the work in Wisconsin affecting BNSF traffic between Chicago and Seattle, BNSF has sent a few detour trains via northern Wyoming. Most of these have passed through during the night or in the rain, but this Q-CHCSSE made it through the Sheridan, WY area just before sunset. In a land of mostly coal loads and empties, it was nice to see a stack train. They also went up Parkman Hill about three times as fast as the coal trains.
1) Near Wakeley, WY and only a few miles from a crew change in Sheridan. 2) Starting the climb towards Parkman in the Tongue River valley. 3) Passing through Ranchester, WY where the grade of Parkman Hill gets steeper. sums007 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >Isn't it the Z-CHCSSE now, though? They did run a few of the detoured intermodal trains with the Z symbol, but I think they fell behind too far on the schedule in the midwest. This one was symboled as a Q. However, they made great time between Sheridan and Laurel, MT at about four hours. Most coal trains take 10 to 12 to cover that distance. Paul Birkholz Sheridan, WY Date: 10/07/15 16:34 Re: Q-CHCSSE detour though Wyoming.... Author: mmciau You begin to wonder if AAK rolled over in bed and relived a run up into Montana with that train instead of his many coal trains?
Michael McInerney Marion, South Australia, Date: 10/07/15 16:36 Re: Q-CHCSSE detour though Wyoming.... Author: GoatBoatMarty True, they are running Zs now to/from Seattle and Portland, however they are running daily Q trains as well.
Q service was/is an option in most intermodal lanes regardless of the Z service option. sums007 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Great shots! Michael, AAK had quite a few intermodal trains, but not many powered like this. Thanks again to everyone for the compliments.
