Yesterday Along the Iowa Interstate
Author: CNW8531

1st  The colorful #516 leads westbound train BICB as it passes the east end of the yard at South Amana.  Twenty minutes after I shot this train the sun came out full for the rest of the day. Oh well!

2nd  The westbound enters the yard while the eastbound SASI awaits departure on an adjacent track.

3rd  An extra westbound is running late in the afternoon with NS power at Durant.  Special thanks to Alan Hunt of IAIS for the train information!

The Interstate heritage unit finally made it to the (Iowa) Interstate!

This is a NS haulage train for Des Moines, the power should flip back to Peoria intact, so don't expect the "creamsicle" to lead or get matched up with one of the IAIS heritage units while it's here.

In the first photo, is the signal mast ABS/CTC or simply a switch indicator?  (I thought IAIS was a dark road....)

It is a switch indicator.  The turnouts  are radio controlled by the
train crews.
