I'm cleaning up my photo database and am coming across a problem.  I had always thought the UP GEVO's
started below 5600, but I've seen and shot several 5500's that are clearly not GEOV's; i.e. ES44AC's.  Now,
I've checked Don Strack's site, but he uses the UP designations and not the builder's model.  So, my question
is this:  Which of the UP GE 5000 series are GEVO's and which are not.  Any help will be appreciated.

C45's are GEVOs, C44's are not.

  Nick, I believe that the units  #5248 thru # 5553 are GEVO's, with the 12 cylinder engines, and #5554 thru # 5694 are 7FDL units, with 16 cylinder engines.   Units # 5700 thru # 6081 are also 7FDL units.    Confusin' ain't it!

I wouldn't rush to judge based on tracklight's time stamp for his edit, which was made after GP30Frank's comments.

Fortunately for me, my first read of this thread happened after everything was made clear, so no confusion on my part.

Maybe someone will do another UP Roster Book some day.  The last one done was 2005-2007.  It would be great to get "caught up" on what the heck is what these days.

Paul Withers did a 2007-2012 UP Roster Book.  Strangely, I can't find any record of it on Withers's website, Amazon, Ebay, Karen's Books, or Ron's Books.

   I have Mr. Withers  2007-2012 UP Roster Book, as well as previous books by him​ on BNSF, NS, and CSX.   I wonder if it has become unprofitable to do these type books and I wonder if he is going to stop doing them?

They claim they're doing another BNSF book this year.

I stand corrected, I do have the UP 2007-2012 book, I just checked the book shelf.  But there have been so many damn changes is 3 years I can't keep track anymore. LOL.
