One ya don't see many shots of
Author: ns2557

Over the years I have been past this plant numerous times. I have seen this unit just as many. But I have not seen many shot's of it posted.  At the Flying J Refinery in North Salt Lake City Utah, there resides
a rather rare EMD Switcher Model. The SW600, Only 15 were produced from the EMD Plant in La Grange Il. This particular unit, seems to hide deep in the bowels of the plant. Tho one can see it from the I215/I15
here in the NSLC Utah area, it seems to esacpe most camera's, including mine. This past Tuesday, I went by the plant and saw it, kinda sitting in what might be a spot that one could get perhaps a decent shot of it. So
that being said, here is Big West Oil/Flying J SW600 # 1. Shot 1, shows it in it's natural habitat surrounded by the hardware/equipment of it's owner. Shot 2 is a shot of the unit. While not what one could consider a
good shot, the scarcity of the model, I think, warrants a shot, even ones like these.  This one started out as Arizona Public Service # 1. Blt on O/N 4449-1 which makes it B/N 26932 of EMD Class 12-61. I have only
one other shot of one of these units and that was the one that inhabited Cozad Ne along the UP Main, for so many years.   Taken 11-24-2015 in N Salt Lake City Ut.   Ya'll take care and have a great Thanksgiving 201.

Thanks for the shots MiraLoma and Masterphoto's. I thought that was the unit at the Joseph City Az Plant.  And I think the original paint scheme on the AZPS 1 looks better than the yellow dip.   Happy Thanksgiving all.  Ben Helsel

Anyone know where this one went?  I know it's not at Cozad anymore, as the DBGX 6634 is now the elevator unit.   Ben

Last time I was by there (no photos) the three units they had/have, SW10, MP15DC and GP38 were painted in some cool State of Arizona inspired designs.  The GP38 was built for Pacifc Power & Light at Glenrock Wyoming.  This unit was originally green/yellow and was white by the time it came to AZPS  (don't ask me how I remember this nonsense, when I forget to put gas in the car).
