Wearing Out?
Author: railtime

Came across a WB Kyle just past Flagler, It was doing track speed of around 25 mph.
So I hystled ahead to get a pic of it at Arriba.  It was a long wait, by the time it showed, it was doing maybe 2-3 mph.
It then rolled on into Arriba and shut down.

I'm guessing these venerable tunnels have more then a few hours of operation and due for some major work or retirement?

More likely a slow order than the units wearing out, there's several of them out there.

ns2557/Ben ---
Thanks so much for the info!

callum_out ---
Boy, do *I* ever feel dumb!  Of course slow
orders were probably the cause of the slow
runnig.  (Duuuhhh.....)  Thanks for the info!
(And for not putting either of us down.)

The track over the  years has had a lot of work but it's still pretty light in spots with less than
the best ballast. I'm still surprised at the six axle units as the Kyle did fine with well worn four
axles.

Which line, if properly maintained, was better for heading east from Denver:  the KP, or the RI line?  Better grades and speeds...
