Western Railroad Discussion > Beaumont TX Area

Took a day trip out to Beaumont to explore what RRing goes on in the area. BNSF/UP/KCS have plenty to see. Here are 3 shots from the day this past weekend.

Shot 1: BNSF and UP manifest trains wait for Amtrak to pass on the mainline in the middle. 
Shot 2: KCS manifest passes through Beaumont.
Shot 3: Sunset limited runs towards Houston under an old SP signal bridge.

Neat series from a city that doesn't get much coverage. Interesting how both the UP and BNSF trains have KCS engines!

I believe the former SP yard in Beaumont used to be a mini-hump, similar to the pocket yard in Richmond, CA.  Is that still the case?  Believe Beaumont is mostly chemical traffic, too?

Mini-hump is still there and in use-  https://www.google.com/maps/@30.0721501,-94.153145,18z/data=!3m1!1e3  Looking at the cars in the hump yard, mostly covered hoppers and tanks, some box cars.  Lots of chemicals!
