Western Railroad Discussion > Action From Southern Kansas

This past Saturday led TTownTrains and I on a daytime turn from Tulsa, OK to Wichita, KS. The main focus was the Wichita Train Show so the the train count wasn't high and we also made a stop at the museum. Regardless, we were still able to catch some action on the BNSF along the way.

1) A parked grain train waits at West Winfield in the siding

2) Outside Winfield, a very small place called Akron offerered a nice morning shot of this eastbound Z passing Akron siding

3) 7060 leads the Z train across 82nd Rd

4) While in Wichita we ran over to the museum, home of ATSF FP45 93, and BN NW2 421

5) Later that afternoon we ran over to the transcon in Belle Plaine, KS where we found two brand new C4s on a eastbound mixed freight

6) Better light going away, and naturally we weren't able to capture any westbounds

Nice pair of swooshes in the last two pictures! Are the doors open on the engines at the museum so that you can go inside the cabs?

Yes, and there was a docent wandering the grounds to answer questions.  He even led us on a tour of the engine room of 93.
