Western Railroad Discussion > Some more Tier IV's this morningDate: 03/04/16 09:26 Some more Tier IV's this morning Author: photobob Saw these pass by my house this morning so I gave a little chase. We've got some bad weather heading our way so I thought I'd better get out while I can. I photographed this threesome near Mt Shasta City.

Date: 03/04/16 15:30 Re: Some more Tier IV's this morning Author: dmaffei Tower's comment got me thinking, With all these new Tier IV's coming in and super clean diesel locomotives, will the SOOT on tunnels disappear and keep the locomotives cleaner? In the past, the Cascade tunnel soot caused clean locomotives to get black fast. Will this be a thing of the past? Cool Golf coarse shot "P" Bob..

The tier 3 es44s that are also in the 2000 series are only a few months old, and already starting to get black on the mixed freights in CA.
