Former Chessie System SD18 has been purchased by a couple people in Oklahoma and already is on the move in that direction. It's coming out of Spokane over the BNSF and will end up in Blackwell, OK. The new owners intend to rewire it and make it operational.

Yes, this SD18 rides on trade-in Alco trucks.  It's good to see that this old girl is getting a new lease on life.  It and it's sister, the 7302, spent much of their lives here in Northwest Indiana serving the grain elevators in the area.  What would be fantastic would be to see the 7311 restored in its original C&O paint.

Do we know which route the unit will take to get to OK?

Was definately an interesting unit while it lasted here on the EWG. Wish I could have gotten a photo of it.

This is real interesting news.  There is a City of Blackwell short line that runs from Blackwell OK to Wellington KS and connects with BNSF.  Will be something great to shoot once the BNSF delivers it to them.

It's called Blackwell Northern Gateway and connects with both BNSF and UP in Wellington, KS.
