Officers Special at Fingal
Author: z-trains

This morning dawned with my father and I heading out to the desert along UP's Yuma Subdivision to catch an eastbound Officers Special, which was scheduled to depart West Colton Yard at 6 AM. However, power difficulties necessitated the yard placing a different engine, an SD70ACe, on the point of the business train, delaying it for almost 2 hours. By the time it was finally on its way east, our shot at Garnet had ceased to be as viable as it was earlier in the morning and we headed west accordingly. After the Z-CIG4 passed, the special rounded the big curve at Fingal, California, behind three units. The addition to the front, although not as clean as the engines behind it, was still looking nice as it drifted downgrade.

Tomorrow I fly back to Michigan to finish this school year's seclusion from trains. I hope to be back in May to post more photos!

Cheers,

Zachary

VERY NICE!
Thanks for sharing.
RE: the power difficulties - I'll bet someone got a red bottom behind that.
