Western Railroad Discussion > Train Wheel PhysicsDate: 03/29/01 19:25 Train Wheel Physics Author: IORY_GP40 I have to do a project for school on the physics of train wheels. Can anyone tell me a website that has info on this?
Thanks, Dave Date: 03/29/01 19:50 RE: Train Wheel Physics Author: spnudge Try the FRA or the DOT. The AAR may be able to steer you the right way. These physics deal not just with the wheel but axle loading, side bearing play, L over V forces, curves, buff & stretch, etc. You are going to be busy
Nudge Date: 03/30/01 10:33 RE: Train Wheel Physics Author: mcterza While not a detailed technical description, there is a good posting on the physics of wheels and boogies on an UK website - trainweb.org. There will be some British spelling conventions (i.e.: tyre for tire) but otherwise it is a good basic description.
