Back to Lincoln, NE
Author: twjurgens

After getting shots of the grain train arriving at Ord around 4 PM on Monday, we headed back toward Lincoln, NE knowing that we'd probably dawdle along the way and it would be dark by the time we got back. Near Cotesfield, we found NCRC 8118 dumping ballast.  That looks like one dirty job for the guys on the ground. The next stop was near Fullerton where NCRC 908 and 1020 were shoving sand cars back toward town for storage.  With less demand for frac sand, there are, I'm guessing, 150 to 200 cars stored west of Fullerton. We got to Oconee, north of Columbus, in time to catch the Norfolk Local coming around the east leg of the wye there.  UP 4844, 4154, and 4842 were supplying more than enough power.  My understanding is that this is actually a UP train with an NCRC crew.

One more shot at Oconee, then the last shots of the day were at Ames, just west of Fremont, where UP 4455 and 5476 were hustling an auto rack train west.  It is a long day but well worth it!

Always like to see the Nebraska Central units.  That auto rack makes a nice looking train also.
