UP 844 run this morning
Author: NH2006

As usual, a challenging chase with all the foam.  So much foam.

1. Long range shot in Cheyenne yard.

2. The only decent shot I got at the west end, so much foam happening.

3. Speer.

Chased down to Carr, but they were moving so fast, could not catch up. The  major road construction on 85 between Pierce and Ault ended  the chase.

Thanks for looking!

The shots pulling out of Cheyenne were in difficult light but that is an interesting angle. Photo #4 of the train on the curve near Carr was the winner for me. Nice work!

Why was the Rio Grande diesel chosen instead of a UP ?

UP961West ---
Sorry this reply is not an answer to your excellent question.
This is puzzling to me, too.  Hope soneone who knows can
give us the answer.

NH2006 ---
Those are great photos!  I really like the first one, which is
fantastic!  #4 is also really nice.

The Rio Grande diesel is a UP diesel, a UP Heritage diesel.  I am sure they are honoring the state of Colorado.
