What an amazing 360° view!
Info on the public observation decks below... https://www.skyspace-la.com/ Mr. MRL Date: 07/24/16 18:04 Re: LA Union Station and UP/SP Shops Yard from 975' up Author: PHall Is this the building with the clear slide on it?

I don't think you can quite see CP Mission, from the top of the tower, it's behind a what looks like a parking structure... I am expecting to hear Jack Webb say "This is the city, Los Angeles, CA. . . " Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/24/16 23:08 by EricSP. Date: 07/25/16 03:36 Re: LA Union Station and UP/SP Shops Yard from 975' up Author: F40PHR231 JimBaker Wrote:

Date: 07/25/16 13:13 Re: LA Union Station and UP/SP Shops Yard from 975' up Author: DocJones The "parking structure" is LA County Men's Central Jail. Mission is just behind the northeast corner of the building. Hope this helps.

The old "Terminal Tower" is directly in front of it. The "Twin Towers Correctional Facility" (also LA County) is to the right of it. Date: 07/25/16 16:41 Re: LA Union Station and UP/SP Shops Yard from 975' up Author: spengr80 I worked at "The Shops Yard" (LATC) for 12 years.back in the 80's, 90's, and up until the Remotes knocked me off my job...
I can't believe how "sanitized' the yard looks. The UP pretty much knocked everything down since I was there last in 2008. No more Coast warehouses over by the Coach Yard...no more Shops Yardmaster's Tower...no more Carmen's shanty...no more Switchman's shanty...GONE...ALL GONE!!! The only thing recognizable is the historic, turn of the century, Edison Electric plant next to the westbound Yuma Mainline. And I'm sure, it would have been "removed" had it been located on railroad property... Very sad... Date: 07/25/16 17:54 Re: LA Union Station and UP/SP Shops Yard from 975' up Author: DocJones You're right, I stand corrected. What IS the taller building that's actually obscuring the view of Mission Tower? I couldn't find a name for it on either Google Earth or Google Maps. Thanks in advance for any info.
Have fun, be safe, Bruce "Doc" Jones Sierra Madre CA. ps - just answered my own question. It's a BIG parking structure. looks like it's associated with the whole complex. > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > The "parking structure" is LA County Men's > Central > > Jail. Judging from the Google Street View, it looks like it is a Sheriff's parking structure. |
