CSXT 965 West new West Elk Mine, CO, Coal Traffic

CSXT coal empty action on UP's Limon Subdivision.  CSX Transportation (CSXT) 965, ES44AH, and CSXT 39, AC4400CW, led Union Pacific coal empty westbound to the West Elk Mine, Colorado.  Train was approaching  Byers, CO, July 27, 2016.  Train is a new coal contract for West Elk Mine in western Colorado.

This is a nice photo.  Glad to hear the news---the KP needs more traffic as well, and the addition of foreign power is good.

The same company, Progress Energy in Florida ran a few trains to West Elk last winter, and in the winter of 2013-14. It seems just in the past week they started running again. I'm always glad to see these trains, your shot reveals why.

I wouldn't be surprised.  As long as they can link to UP mid train DPs, no real problem.    When UP had a BNSF set of power for the North Fork, they did dig up a set of BNSF power for the mid-train.  Maybe Todd or Tyler will let us know in a day or two!
