BNSF SCIG yard plans (L.A. Harbor area) - no-go, per judge
Author: casco17

Today's Daily Breeze has an article about the SCIG yard. The judge issued a "final judgment" on Tuesday, stopping the project (which had not really started).  Evidently the environmental impact report was inadequate, in that it didn't provide enough details about local road traffic impacts.

This is the norm in California

Do you live in California?  (or are you one of the many California bashers who don't live here?)

No surprise.  SP was smart to build ICTF when they did, but of course that was 30 years ago.

As long as we have a pack of idiots running the state, nothing will be done unless you want tp spend the money for a long legal fight..

Port improvements have turned into tough sells and may be a questionable investment with the Panama Canal changes, the potential for Artic Passage, the changes in European and Asian shipping routes, not to mention the Politics of no longer exporting raw materials. It may make a decent hi-density residential voting block, I should say housing district, except for the theory of Ocean levels rising. It could be turned into a Private Boat Marina, except it appears a great deal of the area already has been turned into Marinas. Maybe they could find an ancient Luxury Passenger Ship and an unusual airplane from a different era to attract Tourists...

Unfortunately the idiots running the State of California & their NIMBY Allies are the Dr. NO Party & as long as they have control nothing logical will be built because they have created such a paranoia of nonsense.  The State that has the potential to be an economic powerhouse has rather chosen to shoot itself in the head.  Yes, SP was smart to build ICTF when they did & Santa Fe missed their chance before becoming BNSF.
