Western Railroad Discussion > UP 2002 Salt Lake Unit in Salina KS . . .

1 & 2     Thursday I made a run up into Kansas for some family business and swung through Salina and found the UP 2002 setting along on the Back Trk between 9th St and the crossovers at SantaFe St.  All it's other track companions already being called out to trains.
The unit should be in Kansas City this morning as I heard it went east on #154 last night (SIKC)
3.           At the east end of the yard was a BN/SP combination of grain train power
4.          The east end of Cozy Sdg in Salina had UP 7177 ready to take grain east when the car inspector is done with it.

Too bad the 2002 wasn't in a more accessible spot, but that was a nice catch with the KYLE. And, to answer JB: I haven't caught the KYLE in town in Salina FOR EVER! So other than unit grain shipments I'm guessing they run into Salina only as needed. Probably not more than once a week, if that.

Kyle doesn't do a whole lot of business with the UP anymore since the UP jacked their rates up...lots of traffic going out via Courtland.
