Western Railroad Discussion > Blue Cut Fire Aftermath - Part 2Date: 08/28/16 13:59 Blue Cut Fire Aftermath - Part 2 Author: TheNavigator I visited Cajon Pass again this morning as a follow-up to document the areas I wasn't able to access as depicted in Monday's thread at:
http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,4104261 Although both BNSF and UP were busy this morning, it was nevertheless sad to see such widespread devasation. GK 1. Eastbound BNSF as seen from Cajon Boulevard/old US-66 about a mile west of the crossovers at Cajon. 2. DPU of the train in Pic 1 from the base of Stein's Hill in the Mormon Rocks area. 3. Same location as Pic 2, of a UP southbound. Couple more to follow. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/28/16 14:19 by TheNavigator. Date: 08/28/16 14:01 Re: Blue Cut Fire Aftermath - Part 2 Author: TheNavigator 4. UP northbound about to cross over Highway 138, shot from the same location as Pics 2 and 3.
5. Working my way back downhill, BNSF 5267 passes the site of Cajon Station. Date: 08/28/16 15:13 Re: Blue Cut Fire Aftermath - Part 2 Author: oyw Thanks for the report Gary. Sad sight but at least there's still a few patches of vegetation that survived.

Fire is just part of their life cycle. Date: 08/28/16 19:17 Re: Blue Cut Fire Aftermath - Part 2 Author: FiveChime Was there ever a statement regarding how that fire started?

I, too, would like to know. GK Date: 08/28/16 23:30 Re: Blue Cut Fire Aftermath - Part 2 Author: JohnM No cause released yet.
Date: 08/29/16 04:39 Re: Blue Cut Fire Aftermath - Part 2 Author: tronarail Just curious. Is the UP bridge in Photo #4 the one that was damaged in the fire and then repaired in 72 hours or less by UP?
Date: 08/29/16 06:24 Re: Blue Cut Fire Aftermath - Part 2 Author: AJnCorrie no...the bridge in Pic 4 is by HWY 138 and the Mormon Rocks...the bridge affected by the fire was on the otherside of the interstate closer to Alray.
