I can only report what I see on the Metrolink web site.

Says delay due to BNSF.     In reading a CBS TV report, says, a train from LA-San Bernardino hit a auto at Irwindale.  IF this is true then this equipment would then turn at San Bernardino to become the Oceanside train.

I had assumed that it was in the Highgrove area, since  the westbound Metrolink was delayed, but a train from Perris Valley Line would only be a limited delay.

The Perris Valley line joins the main line at CP704 just west of BNSF Highgrove.  Its three tracks here, Perris comes in on main 3, so any problems on main 2 or 1 at this point would not be involved. The three morning trains operate from Perris through to Los Angeles, as part of the 91 line.  Only the mid day shuttles operate to/from Riverside.

SO franly I do not know what happen based on the news event now being reported.
It may be too, that the Metrolink dispatchers did not receive the correct info and/or did not know the area of the Perris Valley Line   JCT.

Maybe the two events are unrealted.

Course the headline at Irwindale site   said "Metrolink Crash", just another media sensational headline mis leading the reader.

Maybe later today,we will learn the facts.  In the meantime, hope this answers the questions posted.  Hopefully a TO reader can clear it up for us all.

Irwindale is no were near Riverside.

The problem was train 336 on the San Bernadino line struck a vehicle West of Covina. This ONLY affected service to Oceanside IF the same trainset was scheduled to goto Oceanside after reaching San Bernardino.

Irwindale is on the MTA Gold Line. There is NO Metrolink service in Irwindale.

Irwindale Avenue is a Control Point on Metrolink west of Covina about 2 miles.
Correct, there is no station stopm at  CP Irwindale.
It is the beginning of double track to Covina station.
