Western Railroad Discussion > Ready to answer the bell!Date: 10/22/16 16:23 Ready to answer the bell! Author: santafe199 On my way home from the Wichita NRHS October meeting last night I bent my path to include Salina. I was rewarded with 3 eastbound trains sitting in close proximity, getting the required ‘terminal inspections’ and general roundhouse service. Here are 2 of them as they looked @ 0120 hours from parallel Old US hwy 40 at the east end of the yard.
1. UP 6827 & 6694 sit side by side undergoing the final aspects of the required terminal inspection. Photo taken in Salina, KS on October 22, 2016. Thanks for looking! Author: callum_out Interesting shot, we rarely have road power sets in Fremont but there's two sets just like Salina.
Must be noticing the grain coming in. Out Date: 10/22/16 16:26 Re: Ready to answer the bell! Author: 3rdswitch Nice.

Rich was right about the grain. And the other train is a coal load. Since these 2 "heavyweights" were getting prepped to run east, I thought I'd add a dash of boxing jargon into my script... Thanks for posting. You got the colours just right. Date: 10/23/16 13:19 Re: Ready to answer the bell! Author: santafe199 King_Coal Wrote: > ... no lightning? What's the deal?
Thanks for all the compliments, guys! Lightning would have been cool, but if I could know exactly where & when it will strike I'd be in a slightly different business... Alas, I'll just have to take 'whatever I get'. The fun part here was knowing how busy Old 40 Highway is during the day. I spent almost 30" on this series of three dozen 15 ~ 30 second time exposures. During the day my vantage point on the edge of the road would have been suicide, but at 0130 hrs I only had to dodge 1 vehicle... Lance/199 Date: 10/23/16 17:40 Re: Ready to answer the bell!
