Western Railroad Discussion > Passing Through Denver TodayDate: 10/23/16 21:31 Passing Through Denver Today Author: mojaveflyer This morning several of us met near the entrance to the Riverside Cemetery in north Denver for our weekly meeting. Following a coal load a manifest train appeared coming westbound. As it approached, I noticed the fifth unit appeared to be different than the GEs leading the consist. As it came by I recognized it as a former Utah Railway rebuilt GP-35, now classed as a GP38-3. From the consist I believe the train is a Lincoln - Provo train. It went to the Coal tracks which usually means it it will be given an inspection by the carmen and then headed west. I do not know what time the train was called out.
Photo #1- The BNSF 5301 leads the train in to Denver on the BNSF Brush Sub. Photo #2- The surprise in the consist. I like the red & gray Utah Railway paint scheme but this looked pretty sharp in new paint. Photo #3- The rear of the unit as it went by... Thanks for looking! Hopefully some of the shooters out west will catch it's arrival in Utah.
