Date: 10/24/16 16:22 Re: Vintage shoeshine stand, San Bernardino, CA Author: Woodman Probably never to shine shoes again. I was there in July waiting on #4 for my trip back to ABQ and then to my van to drive back to Indy. Just sitting in the old antique station is kinda fun. There is a museum there but it was closed on Sundays.

Mike Root Madras, OR Date: 10/24/16 17:03 Re: Vintage shoeshine stand, San Bernardino, CA Author: Lackawanna484 Those chairs likely helped create lots of middle class jobs over the years. Dreams of kids going on to professions, college, skilled trades, etc.
Thanks for the pictures. Date: 10/24/16 17:49 Re: Vintage shoeshine stand, San Bernardino, CA Author: CajonRat Real wood, how 20th century.

Roger B Date: 10/24/16 22:25 Re: Vintage shoeshine stand, San Bernardino, CA Author: CofSF I'm sure most of you know that Union Station has a shoe shine stand again. Ms. Debra Hatrick, stewardess-nurse supervisor for Union Pacific (going out on the City of Los Angeles with a stewardess-in-training) takes a moment out of her pre-departure activities to spiffy up.

I think locals will know the location. Those old "Fly Me" years are long gone. Date: 10/25/16 10:37 Re: Vintage shoeshine stand, San Bernardino, CA Author: Westbound Reminds me of old Joe, the man who worked the shoeshine stand far beyond normal retirement age at the now abandoned classic SP depot at Oakland, CA. When he died, the coroner's investigators found a small fortune in gold coins hidden in his residence. The only thing known for sure was that he did not take them with him...
