Western Railroad Discussion > Urban railroading in EugeneDate: 12/02/16 11:18 Urban railroading in Eugene Author: CBRL Yesterday I caught some switching, a ballast train, a manifest and the Amtrak carrying a Siemens engine headed for Seattle (thanks Todd!). I had my old Nikon Series E 70-210 f/4 zoom on my D7100, which precluded some close up shots but allowed good ones from a distance.
1. Jumped out of my car and snapped the CORP Yoncalla Switcher running past the Eugene Amtrak Station on the WP track. 2. Another shot of the two GP38-2s. 3. A long work train waiting in the yard by Bethel Drive More to follow. Tom CBRL Date: 12/02/16 11:21 Re: Urban railroading in Eugene Author: CBRL Next up is everyone's favorite Black Widow GP9, the PNWR 1801!
1. Close up of 1801 2. 1801 switching cars behind the yard 3. Negotiating the crowded yard with a GP38-2 in the foreground More yet. Tom CBRL Date: 12/02/16 11:26 Re: Urban railroading in Eugene Author: CBRL From the same location, the PNWR 2309 pushes a long load of lumber into the yard.
1. Getting ready to back over the Roosevelt Boulevard crossing 2. Rolling back into the yard 3. Close up of PNWR 2309 as it goes by A few more to come Tom CBRL Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/02/16 13:22 by CBRL. Date: 12/02/16 11:29 Re: Urban railroading in Eugene Author: CBRL 1. and 2. Next we were greeted by a manifest freight heading into the yard from the South, led by UP 2538. Location is about a half-mile away from the last photos.
3. Here comes the Amtrak Coast Starlight at same location. Tom CBRL Date: 12/02/16 11:33 Re: Urban railroading in Eugene Author: CBRL 1. Approaching Amtrak Coast Starlight
the 2. The new Siemens diesel electric engine (did I mention my lens was too long for close-ups?) 3. The California Zephyr logo on the end of the train. There were two private cars added to the consist. Tom CBRL Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 12/02/16 15:57 by CBRL. Date: 12/02/16 11:45 Re: Urban railroading in Eugene Author: CBRL What really distracted me was the ballast train that was working on the Coos Bay line that connected to the UP.
1. Heading back into the yard after setting the switch 2. The power for the ballast train, a GP38-2 and a GP15-1 3. Moving all the way back on the Coos Bay line with crossing protection That's all for one day! Thanks for looking. Tom CBRL Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/02/16 11:53 by CBRL. It is only an f/4 but it shoots very sharp wide open - fifty bucks on ebay! Thanks for the feedback. Tom Posted from Android |
