one from the neighborhood . . .
Author: 3rdswitch

.   .   .   tis the season here in the neighborhood at Palmer Lake, CO, located at the highest point along the joint UP BNSF Denver Pueblo Joint Line main. Palmer Lake boasts of the largest lighted star in the United States and lights it periodically during the year for both special events as well as certain holidays. For the Christmas season the star is lighted each year on the first Saturday in December and is lit daily dusk to dawn from then through New Years Day. With the cold temps we have been having our little lake has been frozen but with highs today near fifty some melted but not enough as I headed down this evening to try and grab a few star reflection shots but it was not to be, however, on arrival a convenient northbound BNSF coal empty happened to pass under the star resulting in this shot. Not the greatest but acceptable for my little experience with night shots. Hope all had a great Thanksgiving as well as a great start to the Christmas season.
