It was 18 below zero on January 7 at Winter Park, Colorado, when Amtrak's inaugural Winter Park Express (WPE) exited the west portal of the Moffat Tunnel and began unloading its 500 skiers at the Winter Park Resort. The 8-car train will run weekends through March 26 carrying skiers from Denver to Winter Park, a distance of about 56 miles. Photo by Joe McMillan.
