Western Railroad Discussion > Chaseing One That Quit Moveing . . .Date: 01/19/17 09:14 Chaseing One That Quit Moveing . . . Author: SCKP187 Yesterday morning, thinking I had all kinds of time to go out and shoot UP 7400 Pink Ribbon Unit, then was made aware the train was southbound instead of northbound and the tables had turned about 2' for my chase.
So I scurried around and decided a road tripon the Muskogee Turnpike towards VanBuren AR was going to be necessary to get caught up or ahead of it for photos. It seemed like each time I learned of its location I was still 15" behind the train. It even went through a crew change and departed VanBuren in record time. Maybe I'm going to end up in North Little Rock today ! ? 1. Feeling pretty sure I was ahead of the 7400 I heard a diverging approach on the scanner and went in to Alix AR to watch the local switch out the Butterball feed mill. 2. As soon as local was in the siding and clear, a northbound mt coal UP 6034-6252 proceeds bye 3. DPU UP 7999 glides bye the local doing its work more to follow. Date: 01/19/17 09:23 Re: Chaseing One That Quit Moveing . . . Author: SCKP187 4. In just a few minutes, another northbound UP 4950-4985 charges into Alix
5. as the local does the pick up and set out work 6. The conductor on the local told me the 7400 was at the siding behind them with problems, so I went back towards VanBuren 13 miles to Dyer AR and found what the DS had been calling "that dead train"--seems they had only made it 10 miles out of town after a crew change and lost power on a couple of unit and could not proceed. They would end up waiting about 4' for additional rescue power so they could proceed to NLR UP 7400 with newly replaced pink ribbon and looking pretty good and clean 1 more to follow Date: 01/19/17 09:24 Re: Chaseing One That Quit Moveing . . . I thought most of the HLCX and GMTX engines are stored at N. Platte and Grand Jct.

I concur with Bob on that one! And it's nice to see the 7400 is still in its "support" paint... Lance/199 Date: 01/19/17 13:52 Re: Chaseing One That Quit Moveing . . . Author: King_Coal Good job on such a grey looking day! The 7400 is looking pretty fresh.
