BNSF Gateway Sub in the dry
Author: ktm-450

For a shot of yesteryear and to change up the theme of winter railroading, here is a shot. This is BNSF 5013 and two CP units taking a northbound manifest through Jellico, just upgrade from Little Valley, CA on August 25, 2014. This shot was taken days after the Bald Fire came through and cleaned up the Pine forest. Many fires started due to lightning strikes.

This really is one of my favorite places to hang out and enjoy the solitude, the Lassen National Forest. Attached are two "beauty" shots to convey some of the, er, activities to enjoy in the waits between trains. The locals can be quite photogenic!

I saw the devestation from the fire also when I was up there last Summer.  It is pretty bleak.  Will take a long time for that forest to come back.  But it remains one of my favorite places, and I will be back.
