A Strange Traffic Day
Author: Ritzville

It was a sunny cool day in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub with a high-low of 37/22. With the meltdown of snow it's mushy with mud or slippery with old ice. Traffic was strange today, lots of trains in the early morning with only 5 trains between 854am and 4pm. It was all grain trains with a couple of coal trains so far. Usually the flood gates open up after 4pm, but nothing close by yet. Here are my catches from today.

1. WB 1002am grain train with BNSF 7720-4967 on the point with DPU and a friendly toot-toot from the hogger.
2. DPU BNSF 8147 on same train.
3. WB 112pm grain train with BNSF 7075-7992 on the pull with DPU.

4. BNSF 486059 Santa Fe Heritage Hopper rolling in same train. Looks like some new graffiti on the car.
5. DPU BNSF 5105 on same train.
6. WB 132pm grain train with BNSF 6195-8217 on the pull with DPU's.

8. Another shot of Warbonnet 4704 on same train.
9. WB 146pm coal train with all ACe's BNSF 8472-9260-9079 on the point with DPU.

13. Suddenly a late afternoon train. EB 503pm grain train with BNSF 3773 and CSX 5473 on the point with DPU. Looks like the front door of CSX 5473 is open.
14. DPU BNSF 6437 on same train.

That's it so far from this quiet day. Hope everyone has a great evening and tomorrow. Thank you so much for looking!

Nice set Larry. I always like seeing what is going through the backyard.  I can't wait to see the counts for today, especially looking at the hourly.  Seems almost BNSF has a very similar flow of traffic on a daily bases.

Thanks for the counts everyday. I've had 21 trains since 1254am, down by about 10 trains.

Larry,

These are probably all the grain trains that were held up in Eastern Montana and the Dakota's waiting for the higher priority traffic to get by..

I heard my fair share of them all night here in Cheney.

Thanks for the show Larry. Hope it warms up out there for you soon. Here in Iowa we are suppose to have 65 degrees on Friday, Saturday, and maybe Sunday
