It's been a warmer cloudy drippy day in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub with a high-low of 46/37 and about .75 of rain with snow melt. Rainfall was light this afternoon. Due to all the rain and snow melt the tracks on the BNSF Main are covered with water between Connell and Hatton, WA. This has six trains stuck in the hole in the area and more on the way to Spokane above Ritzville. I was told they were going to move them EB sometime in the afternoon or evening. This also caused #27 the Empire Builder to be pulled by to Orange freight units in reverse to Spokane. It's been an interesting day. Here are the few catches for today.

1. WB 1014am grain train with BNSF 8359-H1 1053 on the point with DPU.
2. Another power shot of same train.
3. BNSF 485609 NP Heritage Hopper rolling in same train.

As someone taking train 28(17) out of Portland tomorrow afternoon, and a bit concerned about being bustituted to SPK, do you have any further information about what to expect up there with the track problems? Thanks much.

7. EB 1148am #27 Empire Builder being reversed back to Spokane, WA with BNSF 6860-7667 on the point. Amtrack 168 on the reverse point.

9. WB 142pm Herzog work train heading West.

11. EB 411pm manifest train with BNSF 7374-5358 and NS 2697 on the point with DPU and friendly toots from a friend at the throttle in the fog and rain. The First of six trains heading EB.

14. EB 428pm Auto tain with BNSF 5914-6763 on the pull with DPU in the fog and rain. Poor conditions for picture taking, lol.

Heritage hoppers, what a neat idea.

Your weather has really made things messy now.  That NS unit sure looks good.  Hopefully in a few days the roadbed will be repaired and the bottleeck of stopped trains will ease.

It isn't all about "heritage."  Railroads will repaint equipment with older trademarks in order to show continuing use of them.  It provides a stronger case if the railroad pursues a trademark infringement complaint if someone else uses the "heritage" trademark without permission.
