Watch for work this year at Hauser adding another mainline fuel track and more 2MT in the areas of Athol/Rathdrum. The slowdown in business hasn't hit the NW Division at all.

Some people just do not want to see change. Change which might be good for them or change forced upon them with negative consequences. Their thoughts are change is always bad even if the status quo is circling down the porcelain fixture.

Hey guys, it's the funnel. They'll be parking trains on the bridge just like anywhere else up there. Probably the choicest parking of them all since they don't have to cut any crossings on the bridge.

Doesn't seem like BNSF is ready to begin actual construction anytime soon. The article spoke about design and engineering, and alerted the local dog owners that there'd be some strange equipment appearing on their dog beach soon as part of the soil testing process.

Keeping trains moving doesn't much appeal to the public: As far as most Americans are concerned, the freight railroad network should be abandoned and converted to bicycle trails in its entirety, retaining only those rail lines providing passenger service, the only rail service they can personally use. The freight can go on the highways or just stop moving altogether (we don't really want all those containerized imports from Asia anyway, do we? build the stuff here! and no coal trains would shut down all those power plants that are warming the earth and threatening us with extinction.) I feel sorry for Ted (and Gus Melonas of BNSF), but that's the way it seems to be.

Exactly. The American public pays absolutely no attention whatsoever to railroads and trains, except for when they are blocking a crossing they are trying to use. The only other time is when they hear or read about a big derailment somewhere, and their impression is that they "are always crashing." The Association of American Railroads could do a much better job of promoting the image of our railroads to the general public.
