Western Railroad Discussion > A couple from the Moffat yesterday

I was hoping to get Union Pacific's Engineering special heading Eastbound down the Moffat Tunnel Line into Denver after work yesterday afternoon but when the train wasn't even at Bond by 17:00, I soon realized that wasn't going to happen!

Oh well, at least Amtrak #6 had special painted engine #145 on the point.

1) The local from Craig heads down the hill just West of Tunnel #1 with the UP 7281, 6711 and 8996. The skyscraper's of Denver are seen in the background, with Sun shining on them, not on the train:{

2) With only 25 empty cars, it was strange to see the train set up 3x2! Seen here passing Blue Mtn. crossing.

3) Amtrak's Eastbound California Zephyr with #145 on the point, heads towards an on-time arrival at Denver.

I heard Amtrak 145 was on No. 6. That would have made for a terrific side by side shot on the double track on Soldier Summit with the Engineering Special. 😜
