Western Railroad Discussion > Update on Larry FredeenDate: 04/27/17 18:26 Update on Larry Fredeen Author: ButteStBrakeman This from his daughter today:
Back down with Dad today, Thanks to Mom and Jeff for staying with him for a few days. It takes a village. Dad seems less foggy today , kinda grouchy. Funny cause in 35 years I have never seen him grouchy, LOL. Possibly 2-4 more days then up to a rehab facility up North to continue his recovery. Date: 04/27/17 18:49 Re: Update on Larry Fredeen Author: Margaret_SP_fan This is good news. He is hanging in there, and, according to
one of his FB Friends who himself had open-heart surgery some years ago, it takes a long, long time to fully recover from open--heart surgery. All heart bypass surgery is open-heart surgery. Looks as though this great locomotive has a long, hard grade in front of him, with a lot of tonnage to pull -- but this engine is up to the task, even if he lacks most of his usual and expected tractive effort right now. In a few days, the shop crews where he now is are going to transfer this locomotive to another repair facility where he can be tested further to make sure all his components are working well enough to put him back into light-duty yard service, which is what this engine will be assigned to do for a while. Margaret said it well! Larry, it's time to get back on the main.
Kent in CArmel Valley Date: 04/27/17 21:56 Re: Update on Larry Fredeen Author: Margaret_SP_fan Thanks, Kent. But this great locomotive has been put on
restricted very light service, and has to stay in the yard for a while.
