Short answer: No. There are previous posts on TO here that address the EMD 3/GMTX 9041 confusion... I remember one day the former "3" showed up behind my build (in Gang Mills, NY) wearing a 9000 series number.

I don't know what the 3 got renumbered to but one of those numbers would make sense. Rob Date: 04/29/17 21:23 Re: Three SD60MACs, an Oakway, and the First SD70ACe-T4 Author: IORY_fan EMD 3 became GMTX 9041 then to GMTX 9000 currently on lease to P&W/Vermont Railway

One went to be modified in Seattle? and an Oakway SD60 was sent to be a stand in. A great historic photo of EMD technology evolution. Womder why #1501 hasn't gone to UP yet by now? Some on the ground roster shots would be nice to see.

It became an engine test platform. Date: 04/30/17 18:26 Re: Three SD60MACs, an Oakway, and the First SD70ACe-T4 Author: Sterk That's a great combination for 2017! I shot the SD60MAC demo units a few times hauling coal in NE and CO back in the early 90s. Thank you for the photo.

EMDX #1501 isn't one of the units going to UP, its being retained by Progress Rail.. The Oakway SD60 that is there was not sent as a replacement for the SD60MAC which was modified as a engine test bed, those were totally unrelated transactions. I thought UP was taking all the t4 demos except 1603/1604... Date: 05/02/17 20:15 Re: Three SD60MACs, an Oakway, and the First SD70ACe-T4 Author: bogieman SD60 9041 was re-wired by EMD as the mule for the development of the EM2000 computer system that replaced the MOD3 computer starting in the SD70's. As such, it's a bastard and stays in Pueblo as a dynamic braking unit.
