Western Railroad Discussion > Klean Katy at KatyDate: 04/29/17 23:17 Klean Katy at Katy Author: TexBob UP has re-painted UP 1988, the Katy heritage motor, and displayed it at Katy, Texas over the weekend in conjunction with the Katy Railroad Historical Society convention that took place this past weekend at Katy, Texas.
I snuck out this evening to try my luck at some night views of this fine looking machine. Nothing but your basic roster views, but you don't get to see them this clean very often. John Date: 04/30/17 05:55 Re: Klean Katy at Katy Author: philhoov How did you set up your lighting for those shots?
Did you "paint" them while walking around, then blend them in Photoshop? Very nice shots with amazing lighting! Phil Date: 04/30/17 06:31 Re: Klean Katy at Katy Author: SP8595 Two thumbs up!
Date: 04/30/17 06:41 Re: Klean Katy at Katy Author: rrpreservation The lighting is natural, Ms. Katy is simply gleaming! :)

Small battery powered daylight-balanced LED lights that I have for on-camera use at weddings. I started out with 3 for the conductor's side. One died on me (memo to self: remember spare battery) and I ended up with 2 when I shot the engineer's side. The trick is to set them up a bit further away to allow the light to diffuse, eliminating hot spots and allowing a nice blend between the lights. Exposure was most shots was 4 seconds/f8.0 at ISO 800. No PhotoShop work other than slight crop and re-size/sharpening.
