Western Railroad Discussion > Veterans tribute engine was the leader on Amtrak No. 4 todayDate: 05/01/17 16:44 Veterans tribute engine was the leader on Amtrak No. 4 today Author: JoCoLB With Amtrak No. 4 (EB Southwest Chief) running more than 5 hours late today as it was approaching Kansas City, I set up next to Holliday Junction on the west side of KC, in hopes of shooting a short video clip. I was disappointed with the heavy cloud cover but I immediately perked up when I saw the late train was being led by Amtrak No. 42, the Veterans tribute engine. This engine is a salute to all U.S. military service veterans. This was the first time I had ever seen the engine on the move.

It's a private crossing that doesn't require whistling for. The crew was most likely just saying "hi" to the railfan trackside. |
