Where Is It?
Author: Jason-Rose

This is sufficiently obscure that it warrants a couple of hints:

1) The is the end-of-track of a 12 mile long short line.
2) "The came, but couldn't take it."

Well, my first two guesses (Linden, CA on the ST&E, Center, CO on the SLC) haven't worked out on Google Maps.

Negative. Nowhere near the west coast and about a 1000 miles from Colorado. Although Center is a great guess. They do look a lot alike.

No they don't! You ever seen a group of trees in Center? This is some Texas unknown streak of rust,
somewhere!

Yes, I've seen trees in Center. Granted, not as many, but they're there.

Yes, this is in Texas. The railroad is very much in business, just not this particular stretch.

The line in Center ends in a dirt pile just beyond the chemical farm!

Don't feel bad. The Texas Revolution began at this location and most Texans don't know where it is!

Not Center, Texas. That reference was to Center, Colorado (San Luis Central Railroad).

The location in question is in Texas.

Nicely done. That's a pretty obscure little line.

I sent the photos to a buddy that knows just about everything (or so it usually seems) and he's a Texan. Totally stumped him. He thought it was Alamosa.

Elevation 7645 feet (per roadside sign) ?
Wiki shows 371 feet.
