I was wondering how do you railfan in Lockport on Canal Days? Yes this is in Illinois. How do you get to the Chillicothe Sub under IL route 7 on Canal Days?

My Aunt and Uncle lived near the tracks just to the west. Also Dad rode the GM&O "Plug" to Chicago and I could watch the Abe Lincoln and other trains too. I was back to my 50th HS reunion last year and it seems there was a street you could work your way around to and view the super elevated curve on the old ATSF. The old GM&O Depot still exists down on the south side and is in great shape.
Enjoy your visit there. Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Date: 06/17/17 11:27 Re: Railfanning in Lockport on Canal Days. Author: ghemr railfaneric Wrote:

But the traffic and the canal days event make it hard to get down there.
