Western Railroad Discussion > A Green Three-Eyed Monster Comes This WayDate: 06/21/17 21:24 A Green Three-Eyed Monster Comes This Way Author: funnelfan Just caught the Lind Turn leaving Cheney, WA late this afternoon. For once it had more than just handful of cars. The TTZX centerbeams are going to storage at Lind reportedly.

Larry Date: 06/21/17 22:51 Re: A Green Three-Eyed Monster Comes This Way Author: Margaret_SP_fan LOL! I love your thread title! I thought
you had photographed a "triclops", and I was right. The BNSF 1411 looks really good in your photo. A sorta "whiteface" (bot not really) BN in beautiful Cascade Green. And she is 67 years old! Really! She was built as a GP 7 in Sept. of 1950 for the GN as the GN 611 -- another 611! The N&W 611 is 4 months older than this locomotive The BNSF was rebuilt as some time as a GP 10. Still she soldiers on -- a first-generation diesel still out and about, doing what she was built to do. (I wonder how much of the original 1950 locomotive is left? The frame and trucks? Anything else?) Thanks, again, for this neat photo. (I love looking up the history of the various interesting locomotives people post pictures of here on TO. "rrpicturearchives.net" is my source.) Date: 06/21/17 23:14 Re: A Green Three-Eyed Monster Comes This Way Author: Hookdragkick Haven't seen a Triclops in person in years. I hated the fact the emergency lever was in the conductor desk though... I may never see one again, and that was in NM!

(I wonder how > much of the original 1950 locomotive is left? > The frame and trucks? Anything else?) That was another BNSF 1411 that was sold to the Northern Lines Railway. This BNSF 1411 is a SD60M built for the BN in 1990. That makes it 27 years old and unrebuilt. The trailing unit, SD40-2 BNSF 1979, was built as BN 7158 in 1979. It's 38 years old now. BTW, thanks for the appreciative remarks. Ted Curphey Ontario, OR Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/22/17 03:01 by funnelfan. had no idea there were TWO BNSF 1411s! Thanks for the correct info! And I have not seen any recent photos of any "triclops" locomotives for a long time, to come to think of it. Date: 06/22/17 14:42 Re: A Green Three-Eyed Monster Comes This Way Author: ns1000 Nice shot!!
