UP Bridge Outage in Louisiana

The Union Pacific bridge in Krotz Springs, Louisiana has been taken out of service due to damage caused by a barge, repairs are expected to be completed near the end of July.

We have analyzed the structural damage of the bridge and identified the most effective design plan to replace the damaged pier and this week we will begin the implementation stage of repairs. Customers will continue to experience delays of up to 48 hours while we reroute our traffic around the bridge location.

Once repairs are complete we will resume our normal operations between Kinder and Livonia, Louisiana.

Anybody here from that area? Got photos? They would be appreciated.

Wow, what is this, the 4th or 5th bridge they've lost in a year? They should be pretty good at rebuilding with all the practice.

I hope UP sticks it to the barge line by presenting it with the tab for repairs and added expenses incurred.

UP might collect damages, but doubt the effected employees will.
Worked for CSXT in Engine Service and had several bridge strikes. All we got was cut back or cut off. That was before 2000.
