Utah in Colorado . . .
Author: 3rdswitch

. . . enroute father in law in Goodland, KS, encountered KYLE's westbound Goodland Limon turn just east of Seibert, CO, and took a one hour thirty minute delay as it was my first time seeing the newly acquired exUTAH Rwy units leading a KYLE train. This was one of the ten mph restricted steatches of track and in addition the job made a three car pickup in Siebert. He had seventy five cars leaving Seibert.
top: Approaching Seibert.
middle: Leaving Seibert.
bottom: A few miles west of Seibert.

I never realized how high the hogger sat in these units. At least he has a good vantage point of the crew on the ground

Very nice shots! I think this makes the first time I have seen photos of an MK leading there. === === = === JLH

Most likely leading because the Utah unit has air conditioning!

I guess Kyla is not concerned with the speed restriction of their trains. I am sure some of their crews go dead on the law. What would it take to bring them up to 25 mph?

West of Goodland, probably 65,000 ties, surfacing, some rail changeout, might see some of that before
the grain season gets heavy.

Heck, most of the line west of Goodland is actually 30 MPH track...

It was at least 25 mph, but it seems to have quite a few bad spots and definitely needs surfacing.
There were ties put in about five years ago to bring most of it up to Class 2 but that only took care
of the worst pieces.
