Western Railroad Discussion > The first Dash 9 GE ever built.Date: 08/14/17 09:40 The first Dash 9 GE ever built. Author: railfaneric Good Morning everybody. I am wondering which railroad received the first Dash 9 that GE ever built. Which railroad owns it? What is its road number, and when was it build date?
Date: 08/14/17 09:56 Re: The first Dash 9 GE ever built. Author: atsf5704 The first Dash 9 was CSX 9000 built in July 1993. However it and the other two in that order and the 50 unit order that followed were prototypes with the Dash 9 internals in a Dash 8-40CW carbody.
The first production Dash 9 was C&NW 8601 built in October 1993 and was sent to the test facility as GECX 8601 in a dark gray paint scheme with a GE logo. It was delivered to C&NW (in C&NW paint) in December 1993 and is now UP 9665. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 08/14/17 09:58 by atsf5704. Date: 08/14/17 16:03 Re: The first Dash 9 GE ever built.
